Picture Book: The Stranger By: Chris Van Allsburg - Rollin

Dear Mrs.Hamilton,

I picked out this great book called "The Stranger" by Chris Van Allsburg. I picked this because the title sounded interesting.

I really liked the starting too, the book is about this stranger that farmer Bailey hit by his car. I found this book very interesting.

But there were parts that puzzled me. I just wasn't sure what the author was trying to say. Parts confused me and made me ask questions. Why didn't the stranger sweat? Why did he blow on the leaf? I thought that was meaningless and why did the stranger leave? Did he recover?

I wondered when the stranger will heal. I don't understand why the rabbits liked the stranger so much. Also in the book it says farmer Bailey occasionally stopped to rest but the stranger didn't even sweat!

The doctor said the stranger would be healed in days instead of weeks. Why would the Bailey's let the stranger stay there at their house? They don't know anything about him.

This book "The Stranger" was confusing but I still enjoyed it plus I enjoyed the pictures they explained what was happening.
